In what has unbelievably become a time of war like those in the Twentieth Century,  I found myself wondering what exactly were the "Rules" of War?  What was "acceptable".  Where was the red line between defense and aggression and offense?  As I tried to sort that out,  I knew that I believed war never is a true solution. But how can one negotiate if the other party is not willing to do that?  My guides began talking to me, whispering and informing me until I understood that war can never be dismantled until we live with a different set of values, until we believe in 
The Strength of Lace
The Beauty of Roses
 and the 
Rootedness of the Aspens.  
When we take those qualities as our Guides, then we will be creating a Backbone of Peace.  Impossible?  That is our assignment to live beyond the possible and learn how to create this reality.  If we cannot even dream of that reality, then it will never come true, so it is important for us to have physical images of these thoughts.  Energy follows thought. This was a shamanic undertaking for me.   If we think more positively, we can find ways to create that as a reality...And so I painted this, as an image to help us remember the positive, rather than focusing only on the negative.

WAR: Dragon Callers and the Time Thieves
This piece is not about pretty pictures but instead about the conflicts we have within ourselves and in the world.  War happens on many levels of our lives from actual physical conflict to the division of humans by ideologies, and the interference of Time Thieves.  Dragon Callers , during those times, call the Dragons of strong hearts, endurance and intervention in ways beyond the physical .  The Time Thieves are those who suck our energy, Beings either  alive or dead, perhaps from our past.  They take what is not theirs without our permission, confound our will to act by taking our initiative and vision, leaving us blind and with no ability to see a future, resigned to our soul's defeat.

Convergence of Possibilities Seen by My Multiple Selves
Science now tells us there are many centers of intelligent perception beyond the brain in our bodies.  The heart being the first to comprehend most things who then informs the brain. There are many others that also sense and know what is happening around us and are programmed to respond in certain ways.  These ways do not always coordinate....How do we create congruence between all these various centers in our selves?  The paintings shows us many portals of knowing in different areas, each individual and yet part of the whole.....Congruence is  their goal

Fire Dancing:  Interpreting the Calligraphy of Our Burns
  Surrounded by Guardians and Guides, we are Fire Dancers dancing our way thru the challenges of our lives.  Often we stop and look, making attempts to interpret the calligraphy those burns have made on us  and how they have taught us.  I like to note all the things they have taught me in Journals as she is doing here. The Teacher:  WayShower for the Sunflower Path of Light

Paradox:  Life Having a Conversation with Death
During Covid's  first ravages, I was struck with the paradox of now personally having much  time to do what I loved since my job was suspended, and the terrible death and illness that this disease was wreaking on us.   We were having a very real conversation between  Life and Death.  The situations in our personal lives, as well as in the world, often bring those realities  for us to face.  What is it that makes life seem worthy of the struggles that it also brings...That is different for each of us but this Woman chose Life and is reaching for the flowers of gratitude and a belief in the possibility of Joy

Fire Healing
Huge Fires in Australia at the time called to me and I sent them healing energy in the ways I know best with this painting.  It holds may symbols of sacred support  and the energy that I hoped to send there in healing of those fires.  I don't claim any influence but the fires did go out shortly after I completed this piece.

A  Beautiful Man Dreaming of Peace
This sweet man just appeared on my canvas.  I had no intention of painting any figure and I never paint male figures but he was there and so beautiful.  I  knew he was dreaming of a time when there would be peace and no more war or chaos.  He seemed ancient and perhaps somehow related to Egypt as well, with sacred writing around the neck of his robe.  I had the sense he was a figure of power.

Egyptian Memories
I have powerful past life memories of several lives in Egypt.  This figure with Anubis and the Blues lotus seemed to hold memories of many of those collected together.  Strangely enough, she also holds an image of a Polar Bear, another Guide/Protector for me and a symbol I have long ago been given in my shamanic work on her forehead.  A full moon is behind her with a bird of unknown origin and some Aspens on her left.  All are beings that I work with in this life.  Her memories span aeons of time.

Return of the White Ravens

I began this painting with several layers of colors and shapes and symbols.  There was no image to at that point or idea of what I would be creating.  I put a bold stroke of white more or less in the center as a manner of claiming the piece and finished for the night.  Before going to sleep, I came to look at this painting again as is often my custom.  I suddenly saw a white Raven in the center almost completely formed and with some detail.  Other parts of the stroke became the other two ravens as well.  I then completed the painting after that with the three ravens.  I decided to look up their spiritual information.  There are many myths about the raven which is said to have stolen fire for humans and in the process, his originally white feathers became blackened with the smoke and heat.  Seeing a white raven now signals the return or coming of a miracle.  May this painting signal the hope of new wonders for your life.

Muse of the Blue Lotus
The Blue Lotus comes from Egypt and was often found in pools near the temples.   The lotus is also found in much of Egyptian art.  Memories from past lives have shown it to me  drunk as a tea as well as being gathered for its beauty.  It is purported to have had special qualities and may have been used for the healing and release of trauma by the priestesses.

First Star Woman

Be the Flame: Speak Fire with  Love
A dragon fly came to visit at work one day and couldn't get out of the building.  I watched it fly back and forth, and then crash into the window  over and over again  but never succeeding in gaining its freedom.  I realized that we all do this so often.  we keep trying the same old solutions to our challenges that don't work because we cans see beyond doing what we have known in the past.  My Guides worked with me as I created this painting and while ti was about being able to move beyond what was familiar to me, they kept saying, 

"Be the Flame, the Light: Speak  the Fire of Truth but always with love. " 

Sometimes that meant seeing that what I was doing wasn't working and I needed to finally try something new just as the dragon fly had to finally climb on a stick I offered it and sit still while I took it outside to freedom.

Searching for the Healing Muse

Mapping the Future: Walking Away from the Past
This painting has so many symbols and meanings it is hard to explain them all individually but they speak to the long journey Women have made  in picking up their empowerment from times past.  Many things have created a labyrinth that we have had to walk, most deeply, religion and acculturation from  a strongly Patriarchal society.  Other things have been helpful and been our Guides and Protectors.   Today, I envision us walking out, exiting many of the restrictions of this labyrinth of the past and choosing the new directions of our future with many Guardians and new ways of Seeing there to help us.

She Is Not Afraid of Transformation
This piece  grew out of an experience I had with a snake in my carport. I've not had much experience with live snakes so this was new to me....new and ended well for us both.  It reminded me of the traditional meanings of the snake in past history.  It has been used with the Goddess as a power symbol of the Goddess in matriarchal societies, a symbol of healing from very ancient times because of the way a snake is able to shed their old skins and birth themselves so to speak in a new skin larger skin..  Later this symbol  was claimed by the Greeks as part of the Caduceus staff still used by today's medical societies to represent healing and medicine.  As I pondered that meaning for me, I knew it was about speaking truth in healing ways and not being afraid of my own transforming needs and changes.  The snake and the butterflies in back of me both represent those changes and metamorphing from one version of self into a more knowing one.

Mistress of Solutions
Sometimes the solution for issues and challenges is to use Phoenix Medicine, burning our nests of the comfortable Known  and creating anew the Phoenix of a new path.  This Being has tears as she experiences the loss of the old and the fears of the unknown new that she is creating, but she is supported by the bud of a yet-to-bloom rose and a caterpillar that is transforming into a butterfly.

The Gem of Forgiveness
For the most part, we underestimate the empowerment of Forgiveness.  Forgiving is not about forgetting at all, but more about releasing ourselves from our response to the hurt and moving on without sinking into the mire of that feeling. Often we have to let go of trying to understand the source of the hurt and simply acknowledge its reality and move on best we can.  In that we grow in strength and are finally able to heal.

All the elements of this world and this life are connected with a Red Thread says legend, and so I have found that to be full of truth.  This painting holds symbols of the 4 main elements that we know  and humans as landscape or perhaps angels in disguise.  It is sewn together with red yarn and has a small collaged message on it as well as other figures reaching out to one another.
